What have I been missing?
Much of my recent “free time” has been spent trying to identify what’s been de-prioritized in my life. Certainly, there was no shortage of important items that have fallen “below the line.” And some of those are so damn important to me, making me wonder “how did I get so far off track? How could health, family and travel all fall by the wayside???” It became abundantly clear to me that I have got to start taking charge of my own life again…because it isn’t just going to auto-correct! So, where to start?
Well, one of the biggest things missing was travel which also goes hand in hand with family. I typically don’t do one without the other (unless it’s an insane backpacking trip). Sure, as a family, we’ve hopped on a plane and gone places the past couple years, but I wouldn’t consider much of that “travel.” That was more of an “unplug” or “vacate” from our busy everyday lives. And while there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that kind of trip, they’ve lacked what feeds the soul…namely adventure, learning about new cultures, trying new food, and simply experiencing new things. So, while we loved our recent stays at places like the Grand Velas Riviera Nayartit, so much so that we visited twice in 3 months time. No more all-inclusives, where we were hard pressed to leave the resort grounds….it’s now time to do some real travel, or in other words…time to “go get out there.”
